What is the name of your state? California

We moved into a home almost a year ago and have had troubles with our neighbors from the beginning. The day we were moving in it was 7:30 pm and she came out of her house with her hands on her hips and said, "I can tell we are going to have problems already since you are making noise". That is to let you know what type of people we are dealing with. It has progressively gotten worse. She stares at us all the time out the window, even into our side yard and kitchen door. They hate dogs and we have two. They are quiet and only bark when excited but that is too much for them. They have taken pictures of our side yard where we keep the dogs, which we keep clean and reported us to the owner. Which doesn't matter because he used to live there and knows how they are. We clean the cement with Simple Green and it's biodegradable and they are now complaining we are poisoning the ground. Yesterday they were caught again from a neighbor taking pictures of our place. They have made me uncomfortable in my own home and causing me stress to the point that I'm upset alot over their actions. They are just mean, hateful people and no one from the direct homes around like them. Do we have any rights to avoid this harrassment behavior? Restraining Order, etc.

I appreciate any advice......thanks.

You are just renting, right? Then move when your lease is up. Being annoying, staring at you, taking pictures (in most cases), complaining, etc., may make them bad neighbors, and is certainly not neighborly, but unless there is something you are not telling us, nothing you have noted is actually illegal.

I know having horrible neighbors is difficult. We have them too. Ours has accused us of cutting her plants, stealing her plants, stealing mulch right out of her flowerbed... (Can you tell she's a little obsessed with plants? I'm no gardener, I could care less about my own plants, let alone hers.) She's also accused us of climbing a telephone pole to cut cable to our house, her house, and the neighbors on the other side, in addition to other accusations and stories she has spread.. She has recently put up cameras on our side of her house to 'catch' us doing whatever. (Paranoid obsessive, anyone?) She is constantly telling our neighbors on the other side (one is a county sheriff) all kinds of neat things that we supposedly did (yet didn't do). She calls the county sheriff office constantly for all kinds of things.. they all know who she is, and don't put much stock in what she says. It's difficult behavior to deal with, but we have learned to take humor from the whole thing, and we have some good laughs with the neighbor on the other side (yes, the sheriff) about the whole ordeal. You say no one from 'the direct homes around' like these neighbors of yours.... Don't stress... make friends with your other neighbors and share some laughs and good time with the neighbors who are unfortunate enough to share your bad neighbor. It helps. Life is too short to allow someone to make you feel so uncomfortable. ;)
