I was never read my Miranda rights when arrested in IL. I cant afford my own attorney, so id really like a public defender. If i go to court, will they just dismiss my case because of this, or will i still be tried? If so, how do i get my defender?

My response:
No, you don't "want a public defender;" not unless you want to spend time with my buddy, Bubba. You'll do whatever it takes to get your own private attorney - - get a loan, borrow from family, whatever it takes.
