What is the name of your state? New Jersey
I am in the starting stages of opening a line of clothing with a friend of mine. We are just going to have some shirts printed with our designs and company logo to see how we do and take it from there, but we have no idea where to start. Do we make the shirts with our name and logo and see how they do first. Or form the corporation or LLC or whatever it is we would fit under first and then start designing clothing? And how much will it cost to actually own the name? I dont want to spend the money if we cant become successful. Any help would be great. Thanks

Creating the business organization -- LLC or whatever -- can happen at any time. You can register your company name and logo as a trademark with the USPTO, but that takes time and money. It's up to you how much money you want to spend protecting your name and logo up front.
