In California is a sporting event legal if you charge an entry fee and give a prize to the winner?
Example:
100-Yard Dash - 1st place $1,000 2nd place $500.00 3rd place $250.00
Entry Fee: $25.00
Race limited to 100 entrants.
Prize money based on number of entrants i.e. 100 entrants full quoted prize amounts. 50 entrants (50%) then prizes adjusted down 50%.
