We are in our second year of a chapter 13 bankruptcy and we need a vehicle, I have heard that we need to "o.k." it with the trustee, is this true and what would happen if we didnt?

You need to contact your attorney and get it approved and be prepared to have a really goo explanation as to why. A part of the 13 is that you do not apply or get any new credit. If you can afford another payment or a new car then that money should go to your debtors that you already owed money to. If a debtor finds out and you don't have it approved it can cause them to dismiss your bankruptcy. You need to contact your attorney.
