What is the name of your state? California

I had an idea for an invention and went to a company to help me do whatever I had to do to market it.

They charged me $800.00 for an impressive booklet compiled of General considerations, Production considerations, Market considerations, etc. and a search of past inventions similar to mine.

After 3 to 4 months waiting for the making of this booklet, they told me it would be $8,000.00 to make anything of my invention and there really wasn't any guaruntee that it would be successful, although they expressed positive results.

I declined because I didn't have the $8,000.00 and wouldn't have spent the $800.00 on what I consider a waste of money now for something I can't use until I acquire $8,000.00.

Is there anything I can do with my (impressive) booklet to further this idea on to manufacturers that might be interested in this new product and how do I do that?

Thank you for your time in advance,

Yes, you can use it to light the logs in the fireplace next time you have a date with Michelle Pfeiffer...

Sorry, this is only a way for companies like this to hook you in. Consider it a cheap lesson.

If you want to learn about marketing an invention take a few business night courses at your local university. There are also adult learning extensions in most larger cities that can help you develop marketing, production and business plans.

And it's much cheaper.

Is your idea a product or a service? Do you think it can be sold relatively easy? have you done asearch for comparable products? I am interested in perhaps getting your idea off the ground, are you?

Dear Mravelo,

I will answer your questions as best I can.

My idea is a product. The markets of interest (I've been told) would include Health & Beauty, Medical (Hospital's and Doctor's usage on patients and prescriptions) and anyone actively involved in most types of Sports.

The company that charged me $800.00 for the "impressive" booklet did the search on past products similar to mine and they are posted in my booklet. But none of them became an actual product.

I am very interested if you are on the level and am looking forward to hearing from you again.

Thank you very much for your interest!

The FIRST thing you need to do.... before showing ANYONE your idea is to have a patent search done on it (to see if one already exists) and if not, file a patent application.

If you don't do that, at LEAST have anyone reviewing your information sign a confidentiality and non-disclosure agreement.

If you don't, someone will take care of this for you..... and not to your favor or liking.

Dear JETX,

I appreciate your input and thank you for your advice.

Those are very good points that I will definitely keep in mind once I figure out what to do with this "thing".

Thanks again!
