What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? New Jersey

Hi there...my 16 year old niece is charged with NJ 2C:20-3(a) Fourth Degree, Theft of Moveable Property. Can you tell me what the sentencing guidelines are for this offense? She wants to plead not guilty, but we are not sure what the charges involve. Does she need a local attorney? A meeting is scheduled with the Juvenile Officer next week....does she need to bring her attorney then? Thanks for any help you can give me.

P.S. -- her parents are around, but I am doing the legwork for my brother, as he does not have access to a computer. Thank you!

If it were my kid, I'd want them to have access to a local attorney if they were charged with a crime.

Then I'd have them get a job to pay me back.
