new jersey: i thought that i purchased a house with a lot. i discovered after closing that the lot was separated and sold to another party, despite represenations made to me by an attorney that the deed that i received included both. now someone is building a house on the lot. my litigation attorney tells me that if the builder obtained title from whomever separated it i cannot get the lot. it's lost. how can that be? if the original conveyance was the result of misrepresentation and fraud, can following conveyances result in good title? if so, why do title searches? can my attorney be wrong about new jersey law?
