new land-lord~old tents

Here we are, trying to make end`s meet, and along come`s the new land lord.(here`s our problem). My mother & I have been living in this apt.now for over 5 year`s;the old landlord found out that he could`nt make the payment`s any longer,and decided to let the co.or should I say,the goverment take back control of said propty.While the goverment had control of the propty,our rent was the same as it was in the begining,which was 450.00 . This was paid faithfully each and every mo.Now we also pay our own electric,water,sewer,gas,and cable,which at the time when we first moved in was included in the rent. But as soon as the old owners had control of said propty, they requested that we turn all of the utlities on in our name. Which I did. Now there`s a new land lord here turning the tri-plex i to a drug free rehab houseing project, which he has done in the passed on many other propities. Now niether one of us (my mother & I) have had any problems withdrug`s or even drinking .Were the type of tents that every one wishes for , clean,quiet,respectfull toward`s others,no problems with the law _NONE_In fact were kind of the nebor. hood watch kind of folk`s here where we live. I even waited untill the other tents move out of the other 2 apt`s. and my mother and I dug out the entire front lawn and replaced it with a complete new yard at our own cost.Now the new land lord want`s to kick up the rent we have been paying from 450.00 to 900.00 . also he saying that he`s giving us a break and saying that we pay somewhere around 650.00 for a 2 bed room , unfurnished , apt. we pay ulit.& cable . What should we do? Also what can we do about this problem ? PLEASE REPLIE AS SOON AS YOU CAN> Thank you very much.

Call you state consumer protection office landlord/tenant division and see what advice they have. Are there any tenants rights association in your area? Is there rent control in your area? Call your local Legal Aid office to see if they can help you. If you are on a month to month lease and there is no rent control, the landlord can charge any amount of rent he pleases.

Well now you know you are a dumb a*s for spending your own money on the landlords property...you will NEVER get it back!

And if your rent is so cheap why didnt you save some MONEY?

And why Didnt you get a lease, and why didnt you complain when they made you pay for your utilities? If it was NOT In your lease, then what they did would be Illegal!

Sorry Buddy time to move, and have a BIG YARD SALE to raise CASH!
