What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? TN

This may get long...

The child support agency from the county where the case originated is now saying that hubby is behind on child support. They are saying that he owes over $2,000 stemming from him not paying in June & July as well as September & October. Well, first of all the case was moved from this county to where we currently reside back in March so they have no jurisdiction over the matter.

In June, the judge where we live now ordered that the mom send his daughter to him for the summer and stopped child support for those two months. This took place June 3, well he got paid on June 5th and child support had been taken out for the first half of June so technically she owes him $384 but that's not the point. He's not looking to get that back.

Well he has had legal custody of her since August 19th based on the judge's orders in our current county. The former county sent a letter to him last month telling him that he was in arrears and if he didn't pay it immediatly it would go on his credit report, affect his ability to get a passport, etc. He then called them and told him that the case had been transferred and that they no longer had jurisdiction. He called and spoke to people on 3 different occasions, faxed them the court order and went down there and they said they would see what they could do. He continued to follow up with them and they said they were working on it.

Well, fast forward to Friday when he decided to get an increase in his credit limit on one of his credit cards to get plane tickets for his daughter to travel for the holidays. It was declined and when he checked his credit report, he saw that the child support arrears where there even though he sent everything to the people at the agency to show that he had no arrears.

Is there anything he can do? The people at the agency are saying that they will do what they can, however they aren't sure how long it will take. Is there any legal recourse?

dad needs to file a motion before the court to jump start the child support agency. it's not a pending court matter, so it's not a rush issue for them. make it an issue.

So, where would he do that? Would it be in the previous county or where he is now? I'm not sure it the court where we live now is even aware of the "arrears" as it seems as though they do not communicate in any way.

it would be where the child support arrears are coming from. which, i'm guessing is the previous county.
