What is the name of your state? New York
My husband and I bought a used car last month. He was driving it one day and the check engine light came on and thhe car stopped running. He let the car cool down and was slowly able tomake it home. We were still under the warranty so they said they would fix it. The car had other problems with the electrical so we were told to bing it in a second time. I told them that it was still runningimproperly. They said they would fix it, so we brought it in. We decided to bring it to our family mechanic after that s he could tell us what was wrong. He told us a couple of things and said to bring it back to them since it was still under warranty. He also asked us if they gave us a work order. The dealer said that they were not a liscenced repeir shop so they would not give us one. Is this legal? Are they even supposed to be working on the car?
In this state, a dealeris required by law to give you a work order and they are still refusing.
Help, the car runs ok but not the same as the day we boght it and we do not think they have even done anything. The last time they had it, they took 8 hours to change the fuel filter after they said they were replacing the fuel pump and did not do it.
