What is the name of your state?CT. My local newspaper took an online ad and then simply refused to run it because it said "details see ebay #######". They never even called to explain their "policy". Seem fair? All I wanted to do was advertise my item as far and wide as possible.

Listing a location to read more about an item instead of listing details in the ad may seem unfair to them. They don't have to run it. Ads are at their discretion. Run the ad again without ebay and just a phone number. Tell people to call for more info and give them your user ID then.

I guess I'm looking at this at a macro view. What if the newspaper were Microsoft and they wouldn't sell me a product if I bought a competitors...different opinion? I can't see the difference and how a newspaper can refuse business from a customer solely for buying from a competitor.

The newspaper, just like any other business, can refuse to do business with anyone for any reason, or for no reason at all. If you feel you are being discriminated against, you have every right in the world to sue them, not for money, but to get their policy changed. This wont get you very far though. Any judge will basically tell you the same thing I said. You may be able to scare them enough to get them to run the ad anyhow though. Why not just include your phone number though. Everybody has a phone, less than 50% of the population has internet access, and not all of them use Ebay.
