Placed a claim to the Town Clerks office, due to an injury at a local park, just to recover my 50.00 copay from the hospital. The town paid, however my letter to the town became public information. The major newspaper picked up on the story, making false claims in the artical. Using strong terms that i had filed suit against the town, My letter never used any terms of the word suit. I never had any desire to sue the town. In my letter to the town, I did use my childs name. They were with me when the injury occured. The paper used their names in the artical with complete addresses and ages. I would like to assume childrens names, ages and adress would be kept out of the paper for their own protection.
I have spoken to the paper and they were not help-ful at all. Suggested that for them to pull the information that I would have to prove I wasnt suing the town or If I couldnt that perhaps I should get a lawyer. I have delt with a lot of negative feedback from coworkers and family and would like to resolve this ASAP. Any hints and suggestions. Thank You. I live in CT.

Not what you are going to want to hear, but let it die. All 'news' in town will quickly die as long as you let it. The next story will quickly overshadow yours.

And any action that you might consider would just further spread and aggravate the news.

I think you should seek the advice of an attorney but be very quiet about it. The attorney won't inform anyone or do anything without your okay.

For $50 bucks all this hassle?
Place an ad in a competitor newspaper stating that the first newspaper people are a bunch idiots that should work for the National Enquirier.
