My son was charged with a DUI in 1994 in NH. He paid his fines but moved out of the state before completing the alchohol education program, so never got his NH license back. He then drove in FL without a license and was charged again with a DUI offense. He has paid his fines and completed all the FL requirements of community service, alcohol education program, etc. Meanwhile, NH has imposed a one-year license suspension based on the FL charge. Can they do this? Also, my son has been a resident of Florida since 1994 and has no plans to return to NH. What are the consequences if he never completes the alcohol education program in NH? He would like to get a FL driver's license now, but is afraid the one-year NH suspension which runs until 2002 will prevent him from doing so. Is there any way FL will give him a license since he has completed all the requirements regarding his FL DUI?
