What is the name of your state? New Jersey. I have a problem, I am/was a member of the site “Seeking Arrangements”. I came across a profile of a 20yo. Began a texting dialogue with the young lady who then told some hard to believe stories to me and then stated she was actually 16. Scams are normal on this site and I assumed this to be one as well. She then sent me three unsolicited nude photos and I sent one of myself. At 11pm this past Monday she told me she wanted to come to my apt and told me she drives and had her own car - another hard to believe fact given how could a 16yo have a car not to mention they are not allowed to drive at night. I told her sure come over. She never showed up as I expected. Tuesday evening a man claiming to be her father called me very angry and told me I should be arrested for possession of child porn and being a predator and his daughter was in a car accident on her way to me. I was distraught and he then told me we could get past this if I helped him with the hospital bills - so I sent via PayPal $2k to him. Wednesday night he called again and told me it wasn’t enough money - so I sent him another $3K. Everything I have done from moment 1 was beyond foolish, nevertheless should he attempt to press charges - am I in trouble? I have never been arrested in my life, have never been a predator nor have I ever viewed “child porn” in the past. I am very grateful for any advice anyone may lend.

You were scammed.

You can report what you know to your local police and they will forward the information to the proper state agency and you can file a complaint with the FTC (https://www.consumer.ftc.gov/media/video-0054-how-file-complaint).

Like, "wut"?
Well thanks all for your constructive criticism. I messed up big time - I have never done anything nearly as stupid in my life. I am very depressed and lonely - understanding that is not a valid excuse. Nevertheless please does anyone know whether I have done anything worthy of legal punishment? Thank you

You've been scammed, dude.

But you could have just as easily been caught in a police sting operation engaging in such silliness. Like this dude: Charged With Child Enticement.

In the abstract, yes, you have done something worthy of legal punishment. If it actually had been a 16 year old on the other end of that conversation, there is no end to the list of charges that could be placed against you, with consequences up to and including jail time.

However, it was not a real 16 year old sending you (and receiving) those nude photos. It was a scammer, probably not even in the US, and all that is going to happen to you is that you're out five grand and your dignity.

As I told you in the very first response.
