What is the name of your state?Florida
I sent a creditor a verification letter on behelf on my nephew. (He entered into a contract before he was 18 and now the creditor wants the money.) The 30 days has expired and now they send me another letter stating that "this is our final attempt to amicably resolve this matter." They said that they will be sending my nephew's info to the credit bureaus.

What letter do I need to send them now? I want to make sure that I let them and the credir bureaus know he was only 17 at the time that he signed the document (the copy that I have). His parents did not sign anything. And so this should not be placed on his credit report.

Also where do I find the addresses to the credit bureaus so I can send them the letters?

I just want this to be over and done with. They keep calling him all the time even after he has told them that everything needs to be sent in writting.

Thanks for all your help!

There are several problems here:

First and foremost is where is your nephew. The creditor has no obligation to correspond with you for any reason. You as well have no authority to make agreements for your nephew.

Even if he was under 18 when he got the CC, this does not neccessarily make him not liable. There are other things that come in to play.

Additionally you state the creditor sent YOU a letter. Why would they be sending you anything? It sounds as if your nephew is well aware of the debt but refuses to take care of it himself. He needs to take care of it himself.

Experion, trans-union, and equifax are the three CRA's. They can be looked up on the internet for contact info.

I mistyped. The letters come to my nephew's house in FL. They only contact him. I am merely trying to help him straigten this out.

He had dropped out of school and was trying to get his GED. He went to one of these "schools" that teach him how to pass the GED. But he only went for a week. He took the GED exam and passed it so he told the office that he was done with the course. The lady at the office said that he would not have to pay the remainer of the money being that he has only gone for a week. So that was it. he stopped paying because he was under the assumption that everything was done. Then all of a sudden almost 2 years later they have come to collect.

He signed the contract in January but did not turn 18 until March. His parents never had to sign anything. They keep contacting him on the phone endlessly about the debt. He has already told them that they need to contact him by mail but they do not stop calling him. They are constantly threatening him with the CRA's.

I sent the verification letter and it was signed for on the 16th of December. I need to know what the next step is. I thought the if they did not show proof of the debt within 30 days then the claim becomes invalid. (?)

I don't know. I just need some advice on what to do next.

Thanks again for any and all help!
