no seatbelt in 3/4 ton truck

I received a ticket in Texas for not wearing a seatbelt. I drive a 3/4ton pick up truck and was under the impression that in a truck that size, a seat belt is not required. I have called the court and nobody can tell me the answer to this. I know that there is a law, but I do not know exemption comes at 3/4 ton or 1 ton. Can somebody please tell me which one it is?!

Texas requires seat belt usage in all motor vehicles used on public roads. There are exceptions for things like farm equipment. Even the drivers of big rigs have to wear seat belts.

If yer truck was made with a seat belt, ya need to use it.
