my ex-husband and i had a court date today because he owes me a final payment of a little above $1700.00 it's an "arrearage only" case as i had his parental rights terminated in nov. 2003. he did not show up in court and a warrant was issued for his arrest. so now what? do the authorities wait until they just happen upon him for say.......a broken tailight, pul him over and discover he has a warrant out for his arrest? i don't think he's on the fbi's most wanted list for this.
as it would happen, my ex's step-mother calld me tonight and told me where he is working. i could call the police and turn him in, but he's back at his old job and the original wage assignment for child support is still there and active. if i turn him in, i don't get anything in the way of money, only the satisfaction of knowing i turned him in. then again, he job hops so much....who knows how long he'll stay there anyway. should i turn him in and let the chips fall where they may?

If it were me I'd turn him in. I mean he knew he had court, he didn't show, and now you know where he is. Regardless of the TPR he walked away from his children and the responsibility of them. I doubt though if you call CSE and tell them where he's working they will arrest him but only make sure the garnishment goes through for sure

I am also in TN and my ex has been a noshow in court several times... this is what happened in my case....
They issued the warrant and set a new date, the sherriff's dept. had to at least try to get him before that date. In my case, the date was usually about a month later, and they got him every time before the date, he would bail himself out with the agreement he would show up in court. So, yeah, they do go and get them before the next court date. I don't know how much time passed between the warrant being issued and his getting picked up though.

I was also in the situation where it was in our court orders that if he missed a payment, he spent six months in jail, he missed his payment, they tried to pick him up and then quit trying... I finally started making phone calls telling the Sherriffs dept. where he was. It took a week of this for them to pick him up. You can call them and report where he is, but they will only go if the have someone available to go, it won't be a first priority.
