Leased building burnt-down and owner had stipulated in terms-of-agreement contract to re-build right away, but for unknown reasons -did not comply (even now almost two-years!).
The lawsuit premilinary hearing was not even attended by the persons named nor did their attorney. Our own lawyers have requested continuance for further discovery.
Question: Does the defendants have a ploy by not being interested in the lawsuit in general? not even asking about the size of the claim or how it was calculated? what is basis? Arguments?

I suppose they could be flat broke and nothing matters?

Thanx, I just wanted a generalization on why not pursued better.
