2 quick questions,
1. Can a public school (elementary) state 'no siblings allowed' in reference to school functions? This function being a very big to do for 2nd graders during school hours.
This concerns me, we have no child care, I am a SAHM and have 2 younger ones home. DH work over an hour from home and cannot (as best he tried) get the day off. The event has been played up all year, the children have been practicing for months and i am told in a letter from the principal:
"The reason we ask this is that we want this to be a special event for the students with their parent(s). It is our experience that when siblings attend, they take away from this opportunity"
Seems NO parent there would be a lot worse.
2. Is it allowable for a school event to be videotaped and/or photographed by a parent and/or professional (who would be at the event with the parent) for later public viewing (an award winning telelvision show that will be nationally aired at a later date) without the consent of the other childrens parents?
On this one, I have received 2 a yes and no from 2 different schools in the district. I was also told that I could and it may be covered under FERPA but cannot figure out how. Any info appreciated!
Thank you
