No Will or Estate

What is the name of your state? New York

Both of my parents have passed on. My father most recently. He did not have any assets ( home, savings, pension, etc..), will or life insurance. I contacted the phone, cable, electric companies, creditors, etc... and told them that he had passed. I am now receiving letters demanding money for the outstanding balances. So my question is - Am I responsible for my fathers debts?

Am I responsible for my fathers debts?

Unless the debts are joint accounts or you are a co-signer, you are not liable for his debts.
