i live in nevada with my 6 year old son. i divorced my child's father back in 2001. my ex payed me child support until june of 2003 when he had a car accident in california, my ex died unfortunately, sadly he was an ilegal alien and he worked under a false social security number so the social security office denied my son any survivors benefits even though my ex had worked 8 years using the false ssn and working for the same employer. now that my ex is deceised no one is helping me out and i wonder if my ex is no longer alive who can help me out with my son.

It depends on your income .

If you have little or no income Apply for social services ( welfare ) benefits , with , and/or Food stamps and medical coverage , OR get a good paying JOB .

Also check out your community resources : Churches , food pantries , Free meals , clothing , etc .

Look in the phone book , or on the INTERNET .

You are in the same position that my husband's mom was in. They lived in a country with no SS system. His dad died just before he was born. She raised him on her own from birth. No CS, no SS, no life insurance. Hopefully you have some family that you could move near that might be available occassionally to help out.

Unless you were proactive and bought yourself some life insurance on him, or he did, you will probably have to do this on your own. You may also qualify for state aid.

You're pretty well on your own, girl. This is one reason why it's so important for women (in particular) to be able to support themselves and their kids w/o relying on child support.

Ummm...who else do you think is responsible for supporting YOUR child?

Get a job, Mom. Its not anyone but the parents job to support the child. Your dead ex can not, the STATE should not be supporting you. Get a decent job, and work hard. Tough break.
