What is the name of your state? AL

Ok, maybe some of you remember that my husband won custody of his daughter last summer from her mother who lives in MS. Well, tomorrow-Sunday-is her 13th birthday and she received a package in the mail from her mother. And it contained the following:
travel size shampoo, conditioner, soap, mouthwash and a small bear. I said, well, that was thoughtful (I mean, what else could I say?) Anyway, my stepdaughter said not really, because it was stuff she had left at her mother's from when she lived there. My husband said no, it couldn't be, and my stepdaughter said she could prove it and turned the bottles over and showed us where she had used a pin and scratched an "E" in the bottoms that no one would notice unless they knew to look there. My stepdaughter promptly threw it all in the trash. Now, what made it so bad is that her mother called her earlier to tell her that her little brother's birthday had been last weekend and she threw him " a huge party, and he got a swing set and just lots of gifts."

Sweet gal, ain't she?

Was this package intended as a birthday gift? Perhaps Mom is planning on a big party for her daughter when daughter next visits???

Even if mom was simply returning items to the child, her timing stunk. She should have realized that it would seem as though she was sending the items as a birthday present.

Her mom called on the 25th and told her that she was mailing her a package for her birthday, so she was expecting something special for her 13th birthday. And so far, her mom has not called her to tell her happy birthday. I feel badly for her.
