What is the name of your state? Arkansas

The father of my children has been denied social security disabiltiy due to not enough credits. Has anyone ever received social security disabiltiy even though they have not paid in enough work credits? He has currently applied for SSI, but this does not help the children in any way.

Thank you for helping with this. We are still hoping....it's all we have. But, if it's unheard of then I can just forget about it.

I have never heard of it.. they have standards to go by. I have even heard of those that can get SSDI but the children not get anything because the amount is so small to begin with.

The children would NOT be entitled to any amount under SSI benefits only .

SSI can not be garnished for CS payments .

Depending on your State's CS guidelines , you may or may not be able to get an order of a CS amount . Also just because SSI is exempt , IF the State imposed a minimum amount , and it wasn't paid , other sanctions could occur for the person ordered to pay .

IE: suspension of License(s)

Plus standard a person applies for SSDI AND SIS at the same time .
