ILLINOIS
Our area has four horse racing/betting tracks. We are attempting to organize one paticular group at one of the tracks. Upon further review, the NLRB is questioning its authority over this group based on section 1-502 (Horseracing and Dog Racing) that states it is not within their jurisdiction.
Our sister Local has the same groups at the other three tracks; apparently long time grandfathered/handshaken in. They cover a couple of "groups" at each track. Another local had our targeted group, but was decertified sometime in the late 90's; not sure why.
The owner of the track we are targeting, also owns one of the tracks that has a bargaining unit in place (with the sister local). Is there any chance we could argue this point at a hearing? What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?
