What is the name of your state? Arizona

I just got a notice to appear in court next week.
Here is my issue:
I just recently moved into a 2 bedroom apt after living in a studio for 6 months. I did all the paper work with the leasing office and was ready to start moving my things. In the middle of moving, I became ill and wasnt able to move all of my personal items. Two days after the day that I had to be out of my old apartment, I went in to talk to the leasing manager. He said that there was an inner office miscommunication, and that half of my possesions in the apt got thrown out. About $600 worth of property. He apoligized and offered to give me and my new roomate free rent for the next month. I agreed and we left it at that.
A couple weeks after that incident, we got a letter that said that we have a new management company. I imagine that they didnt get the message that our rent would be free. But, we never got a late rent notice or anything, so we figure everything was ok. Until today. I dont know who to talk to or anything. Do I need to talk to the current leasing office. Or somehow get the number of the guy who I talk to originally? Please help!

Always get your dealings in writing . Try contacting the old management , because otherwise , Joe blow from who knows where including you could say anything .

Example : Hey Landlord , I paid my last months rent , even though you say I didn't . Do I have proof , I do , do you ?

would that be "Joe Blow from Idaho"?

You could pursue him for the illegal disposal of your items... You would have to proove what and the value of the items that were disposed of.

Worthless as you have NO proof of that verbal agreement. Always get everything in WRITING.

It is NOT the new managements responsibility to verify oral contracts/agreements. It is only their responisbility to fulfill the terms of existing leases and any existing WRITTEN agreements.

Irrelevant. It was only a manner of time before the new management company caught up on the banking books.

There is noone to talk to.. You don't have any physical proof of the LL's verbal agreement to give you free rent. Thus you cannot proove that you don't have to pay rent.

Next time get it in WRITING!
