What is the name of your state? Georgia
Here is the problem-I answered an employment ad on the internet to work at home. I sent the requested documents and received a labor contract I signed that and sent it back--all of this is done through the email system. I was to be an account manager-transferring funds from a pay pal account to my bank account and then withdrawing funds to western union them to someone else. Then company that hired me was to deposit the funds in my pay pal account. Well I have performed 2 transactions for them and now I have received 2 emails from e-bay stating that items that were to be shipped to people were not received and that my pay pal account will be charged the money if I don't ship the items. Well the problem is I don't have an ebay account and the ebay account I did have is closed and can't be used. I would like to know if I am liable for the money, and since I do not have an ebay account, should I inform the people that think I should ship them their merchandise that I don't have an ebay account and also can my personal bank account be tied up because of this. I think I have been scamed. What should I do?

Are you saying that I need to talk to a lawyer? Are you saying that there is nothing I can do? Please be more specific with your advice.
Thanks:eek:

What to do?

In your learned opinion-what would be the best choice-to contact an attorney in my state? to contact ebay and pay pal and the people and inform them that I do not have a ebay account? Should I contact the local authorities-police, GBI? I am not sure what the best solution should be. The best solution not just any solution- That is why I contacted this site.

Did you keep a copy of this labor contract?

I was to be an account manager
Wow, impressive title, guess they started you off at the top!

-transferring funds from a pay pal account to my bank account and then withdrawing funds to western union them to someone else.
Woe, woe woe there, put on the brakes! Are you saying that you had to use your own personal bank account, to deposit funds from sales made on E-bay. Then you were to withdraw the same money and western Union it to yet another party? The E-bay customers who these sales were made to and who posted funds in your pay-pal account (or one you had access to) were unknown to you and the items sold to them, which you received the funds for, were also not connected to you? But you did perform your manager duties faithfully, by sending the money via Western Union, to yet another party you do not know, nor have ever met. Let me guess, the money you sent Western Union, was to be handed over to someone at the receiving western Union terminal by submitting a pre-arranged password, not by presenting Identification. Is this the case? The money you sent Western Union,it didn't have a final destination somewhere in Nigeria by any chance did it?
Because it sounds like your the Money Laundering Manager and Primary Pay-Pal Patsy!

Then company that hired me was to deposit the funds in my pay pal account.
I'm sure they will, if they haven't yet, they probably just got a little busy. How much $$$ are you expecting this "Company" to add to your pay-pal account? (If you actually had one that is)

Well I have performed 2 transactions for them and now I have received 2 emails from e-bay stating that items that were to be shipped to people were not received and that my pay pal account will be charged the money if I don't ship the items.
You know what this means don't you? Say goodby to that perfect, 100% positive A++ feedback on E-bay!

Well the problem is I don't have an ebay account and the ebay account I did have is closed and can't be used. I would like to know if I am liable for the money
Only if EBay, Pay-Pal and the buyers have access to your true identity, address and other personal information. But that's OK, because you have all that same information for this company you have been hired by, to manage their unorthodox cash flow process and account receivables situation right? Tell me you do have this information?

and since I do not have an ebay account, should I inform the people that think I should ship them their merchandise that I don't have an ebay account and also can my personal bank account be tied up because of this.
Of course your personal bank account can be tied up. In fact it can be seized, emptied and you will be helpless to do anything about it because they don't have any ATM's in jail. However, when you provide the involved parties and law enforcement with all the identifying information for the company who hired you, and the company then confirms that it wasn't your responsibility to ship the items, you stand a chance of having the freeze lifted from your account.

I think I have been scamed.
Ya think? Gee, I would have never saw that coming,,,, it's probably all a terrible misunderstanding,,,,, no company treats a "Manager" this way! Contact head office and see if you can get some heads to roll!

What should I do?
Take your money out of the bank and stuff it in your mattress for starters! Then, make sure you don't smoke in bed!

Now, go call the big shots at head office, they should take immediate action when one of their managers call! If they don't respond, turn in your keys, paper hat and name tag and tell them you quit!

You didn't have to pay any finders fee for landing this work at home job did you? Because I'd ask for a refund there as well,,,,,

What to do?

Thank you so much for the real advice. To answer your question-Yes I did save the labor contract and all of the e-mails from the company. The labor contract has their address and phone number on it. No I did not have to pay a finders fee-I guess that is one good thing-Yes I did perform the duties as outlined in the contract-I will contact the local law enforcement today and also contact an attorny today.
You have been very helpful
Thanks again
Sandra in georgia:)
