What is the name of your state? MD

Hello all, I just need a liitle help on this, I have 2 trucks, (they are both in my name) and gave one to my ex, he is making payments for the most part, in the past year I had to cover for him three times (we were dating at that time). The vehicle is in my name and I am also paying on the insurance monthly (USAA) I cancelled him as the secondary driver, because he has moved to another state, I don't feel that I should be paying for insurance on this vehicle since I no longer have access to it. What will happen if I cancel my Insurance on this vehicle, can he get Insurance in his name . He has three kids and of course I care about them but this is beginning to drain me, we have great communication still. Please help just so confused.

P.S if you are going to beat me up on this issue use a soft bat

It sounds like you got the cart before the horse. Why on Earth did you allow him to keep the truck and move to another state when he didn't make payments and you are still responsible for payments and insurance? And you htink you have good communication? You are being used. Either have him pay for the truck in full and transfer it to him, then cancel your insurance or get the truck back.

What are you doing buying a truck you can't afford to pay and let someone else take over the payments, he is responsible for his kids, not you. If your truck is financed you can't cancel the insurance and if he has an accident in it after you took him off as secondary driver you are also $crewed. Get the truck bak and try to sell it if you can't afford to pay for it. You are not a bank.

I could afford the truck when it was brought in 2001, and brought another one in 2003 and could afford both. I was just trying to be nice. As you say though they are his kids and not mine. I will repo this truck and take the hit. Thank you so much for your responses

I am not sure if I understand what "repo" means, but you really should not be taking a hit. Ask the man to return the truck, or else you report it stolen. The fact that you let him drive the truck does not mean he can use it forever. If that's what your intention was, then you do have to pay the bills. But, even if you had the agreement that he can drive the truck, YOU are the owner and should ask for it to be returned at any time. If this guy can take care of 3 kids, he should be able to own the car he can afford too. HE IS USING YOU...

Thank you guys so much for your advice, I am in the military and will ask him for my truck back if he refuses I will report it stolen and have it picked up and towed to me. It will cost about 700.00. But I am the owner of this truck, and I realize that he is just using me. If he stops payment at anytime my credit will be shot to h***. "Repo" (reposessed by vehicle lending ageny, and credit Fico score goes from 750 to 400 and it stays on your report for 7 years).

Tell him to give you money to pay it off and give him the title, OR if he refuses, go THERE, (hopefully you have a key and correct paperwork in case the police get involved) find the truck and drive the damn thing home, in the middle of night if need be. It's YOUR truck.

He is using you, getting the free (mostly) benefits of the truck, while you are not, and left with the payments.

Yeah I have been thinking about that alot over night, the truck is in ST Louis MO. and Im in Maryland. I got the address so I'm going to get on the next plane. I have the key and the title and proof of insurance...thank you all so very much. I'll sell it for half of what is owed just to be rid of it. :)
