What is the name of your state? KY

Ok, my girlfriend is 17 and is out of HS. She wants to go out Monday morning and look for a job, but her mother has told her no. If she takes off Monday morning and looks for a job, and her mother calls the police (trust me, her mother will say she has ranaway) what will they say more than likely?

I know at 17 she is still a minor and is under her mothers control, but lets be logical, she is only trying to find a job and make some money so she can move out at 18.

I'm just interested in every one's opinion as to what the police will say when she calls.

Do you think the police are going to laugh at her for making a report?

If the mother does not know where her daughter is and suspects she has runaway.
She could call the police and make the report. If it is entered into the system right away and the police see her, they will return her home.

Depending on the area you are in and how busy the law enforcement is; it may not get entered into the system right away.

Now my opinion, if she is able to get a job and is put on a work schedule, do you think mom will let her go? Because realistically mom could ground her.

How has she completed her H.S. requirements this early? Does she plan on attending college?

How much longer until she turns 18?

She will be 18 in April.

No, I dont think the law officials will laugh at her mom, but the law also states that someone has to be gone for 72 hours to be considered a runaway. She will be back home within a couple hours.

A week or so ago her and her mother had a fight. Her mom has grounded her to her room with no electricity, no food or no water. Basically, her mom told her to find a job, but when my g/f tried to leave to find one, her mother told her she couldnt leave and grounded her to her room until her 18th birthday.

If Mom reports her missing:

17.460 (2)
Within 24 hrs after completion of a missing persons report form, the law enforcement agency shall transmit the report for inclusion within the Kentucky Child Information Center computer and shall cause the report to be entered into the National Crime Information Center computer.

***I know you said she would only be gone for a couple of hours, but you are missing the point. When she gets back things will only be worse. If she gets a job does she plan on just taking off eveytime she has to work.

Her mom has alrealdy taken some extreme measures to get her daughter to comply with the rules of the household, and yet the daughter wants to continue to rebel against her mother's rules.

You as the boyfriend can't be making too many 'brownie points' either.

Sounds like the mother is off her rocker and the child should call CPS.

Brownie points? Screw brownie points, we are way beyond that. It's already been decided that at midnight on her birthday, she's gone and never communicating with her mother again.

Rules of the house? Since when does being locked away with no food and no water, neither for cooking nor showering fall within house rules? That's bordering on child abuse, if not full fledged abuse already. "ok, hmmmm, my daughter wants to work and make money to move out! screw her! i'll just lock her away!!!" LOL rules of the house....Her mom is just afraid she might have to clean a dish or something, thats what she considers her children..."dishwashers"

Things are strange her, her mom beats her about the head with a telephone and the cops call it "corporal punishment"

How I love Kentucky!

That was not what I meant by the rules of the house. I don't think that the punishment (as harsh as it appears) are the rules of the house. I was talking about what the daughter did to get the punishment.

If it is because the mother doesn't want her to get a job (and the mom won't let her leave to get one). Then that's the rule the mother has given her.

QUOTE: Her mom is just afraid she might have to clean a dish or something, thats what she considers her children..."dishwashers" UNQUOTE

You evidently think having the children do chores is unreasonable. When she turns 18 and moves out, be sure you get paper plates.

One other point, believe it or not, daughters do take in consideration how their parent/s feel about who they are dating. The daughter and you might not think so at this time (because your sooooo in love), but it is always in the back of her mind.
