In California.

We are due to resign our lease with our apartment in southern California tomorrow (30-day notice, moving out February 16th if not resigned).
We were planning on resigning but the office told us on Saturday (January 11th) that we will no longer be able to park our four cars (4 roommates) in the parking lot and will only be allowed to park two cars. There is no off-property parking near by and we will have to park at a store or something down the street and walk.
Are they allowed to tell us of these changes only 3 days before we have to resign? We just need another few days or a week to decide what we are going to do but they wont allow it unless we pay the month to month rate.

Thanks!

You were considering moving as it was.

The landlord has clinched it for you. The timing is legal and of course it done to pressure you.

The option to stay short term and pay M2M rates is a blessing compared to a hasty move.
