my mortgage company refinanced my mortgage on 12/98. this was not handled by an attorney/i am in state of nc. feb. 99 i received my notice of right to cancel along with truth in lending and several other documents requesting i back date and sign the notice of right to cancel and mail back to them. it was never disclosed to me what my legal rights were as far as exercising my right to cancel. i have a fha loan. my mortgage company has now been shut down by the fbi, and my mortgage was sold to another company. i still have all the information in their postmarked envelope. i wish to cancel my loan now. what are my legal rights to cancel this mortgage? i have been instructed by other mortgage companies, that this is a very serious thing, and this is a violation of my rights under the federal government. please advise. dj
