If you recieve a notice to quit from your landlord, stating he's not renewing the lease, do you still have to pay the rent for the remainder of the lease? I'm leaving anyway and after the lease is up.

Also since I had to take the landlord to court can I make him pay my legal fees?

I currently reside in CT

Thanks,

Is the Notice to quit just stating that you will terminate the residence after your lease? If it is then you are still responsible for rent til the day your lease ends. Sounds like he was just letting you know you could not renew your lease with his notice to quit. Nothing wrong with that. he was just not leaving it up to you to turn in your notice or ask for a renewal. If you are taking him to court for something legit.. then if you win is the only way for him to have to pay for your legal fees.

Legal fees?

On legal fees, unless your lease provides for fees to prevailing party or court awarded them to you, NO, you don't get them.
