What is the name of your state? VA

Last Thursday 9/15/05 my ex and I had our court hearing. He was ordered to pay $275 per week, starting this upcoming Friday (has to pay it every Friday). The comment that he made walking out of the court room was this "I'm not paying her that, I'll go to jail first!" My question is this: If he does not pay it this on Friday, should I go on Monday and file a contempt charge, so soon after our court date? Will the court system of had time to put the order in the system?

Pay every Friday? Is he paid weekly?

Wow. I only see my paycheck twice a month.

I don't know that the courts will want to see you if he is late by one business day! And, his garnishment order is NOT likely to have been processed that quickly.

Fairy4, I believe the general rule is he has to 30 days late in order to file contempt. Be prepared for a LONG hard road ahead if he is as determined as you say not to pay CS.

Nextwife, some people DO get paid once a week.My husband does, who is in an upper level position, as does my ex who is ordered to pay his CS once a week b/c that is how he gets paid. It really isn't that unusual.

Well, first of all, he's going to have to quit his job to stop the garnishment. Otherwise, there's nothing he can do to stop it.
