my mother sold me her home over 10 years ago, in the agreement (deed) was a clause stating she had a right to live there for the remainder of her life, she is now 88. I heard that it was possible for Medicaid
to put a lean on the house if she were to go into a nursing home. Is this true? If so, and I needed to change that clause, do I have a time frame to wait before it can go into effect? We live in Lowell, Massachusetts.

While I do not know MASS law, IF she sold it to you, but kept a life estate, you'll likely be okay. She only has the right to live there and rent it out IF she pays upkeep, not ownership.
