arizona, my boyfriend is working in California for the next 3 months, but still lives here and wants to get custody of his daughter. there is no existing order, and his ex-girlfriend has made several threats to leave the state with his daughter. will he have a chance at getting custody even though he is temporarily in a different state?

chances going into anything are hard to guess. we all go in with the hopes that we can retain custody.

this temporary out of state thing, is it normal for his job? does his job require out of state work alot? how old is the child? how active has he been as a father?

one thing that he will have against him is that his job pulls him away for long durations of time. the biomom could push on this factor. why give the child to him if his job will pull him away 3 months at a time? that would leave you - don't take this wrong, just the girlfriend to raise the child. the biomom can be there everyday.
