I live in FLorida.
Hello, new to this forum. I have a question that needs to be anwsered. I've tried contacting the IRS, the DMV and Social Security. None of whom could give me an anwser as to what the right anwser is. Company ABC is a legal corporation. Owner of company ABC has been doing business under ABC as a contractor before incorporation. Now clients and other businesses refers/assumes that the name of company ABC is also an idividual. Company Owner/ABC wants to obtain a state ID for company ABC. Does almost all transactions as ABC already. As I said before, I spoke to IRS, DMV and SSI, they all told me to ask the other. I also was inquiring on getting a SSI card for ABC using the tax ID number. They already assume my tax ID is my social (Not the same as my real social). Is this legal? Can it be done? It's just people refer to me as the company name (ABC). I even have received credit cards, store cards, etc. with name ABC as the person on it. Just recently wanted to find out if I can get a state ID as ABC as to not cause any future confusions or problems later? Could I use the tax ID as a social?
Any help as to what I should do & where I would start is greatly appreciated.

For the record, not trying to scam anyone or get over on anything.

As I said before, NOT for Fraudulent Purposes but legit legal reasons?
I wouldn't still have a business, made the calls I made or even be on this forum if it were otherwise.

Any serious help is appreciated.

Are you saying that you have assumed the identity, for all practical purposes, of Company ABC, which we could also call John Smith? Why did you switch to using that name and why did you obtain credit as Company ABC? If you are doing this solely to obtain credit, regardless of the legitmacy of your business, it would be fraudulent.

This is not what he wanted to hear. (Doesn't make any difference if it is correct or not.)

**A: somehow I am not buying your story.
If he wanted to change his name legally he could petition the courts for a name change and go about through proper legal channels. Of course they would make him prove the reasons WHY he wanted to get a name change and show that it was not for a fraudulent purpose or to avoid responsibility on debts or other legal obligations.

I don't want to change my name

I have no debts. I am totally debt free. Yes really. I don't need any more credit than what I have. I'm not trying to do something illegal. The name of company ABC was once my nickname before I incorporated it. That is why people knew me as this before. For the ones who didn't, they just assumed it was my name and it kind of stuck. Maybe if I refraised the question. Once again I was wondering if you could get a state ID for a name other than what is on your birth certificate. If you can prove the use of this name is not for fraudulent purposes.

Sure you can. But you need to first go and apply for a name change and have your name legally changed to whatever your nickname is.

O.K. If I leagally change my name to include my nickname/Company name (My Name And ABC), can I then get 2 separate ID's showing the different versions of my name?

Ask the people who issue the IDs you want to get your questions.

No. If you legally change your name then that legally becomes your name. You cannot have two legally different names and get two different ids in them.
