In the state of Michigan, I had a house with property that was paid off many years ago. It was bought on land contract, and the original holder is now deceased. How do I go about getting the title and deed in my name so the property can be resold? A title search turned up no other names on the title, and there appear to be no relatives to claim the property.

You should have gotten the title when you paid off the contract. That is why it is imperative to use an escrow company or a closing attorney to do this. Apparently it was a private sale that involved the Buyer an Seller without any third party professional help. Now you need an attorney to help resolve.
Guess what? You legally do not own the property.
