odd question on copyright law...

Bascially, here's the situation. A guy and a girl were an item, and the girl gave the guy a lot of pictures of herself to place in a private web area (password protected). Then there was a messy breakup, but the girl didn't complain about the guy having her pictures until the guy was doing a routine security audit, noticed she still had access, and axed the access. Now the girl is threatening copyright violation. The place where the pictures are is still password protected, and only the guy has access to it. My question: is this copyright violation under US law? The girl is in Illinois, the guy is in the Netherlands, but I'm also curious as if the the situation would be the same if both parties were US citizens.

depends on who owns the copyright. she didn't take pictures of herself. ownership of the object is not the same as ownership of copyright (creator of the object). Copyright 101.
