My husband took a job 3 years ago and we have had a question about something in the original offer ever since. The company was rather new and had no employees. My husband was the first hired. In the offer - it stated BONUS: $2000 when the company reaches $30,000 in sales for 3 consecutive months / $5000 when the company reachers $40,000 in sales for 3 consecutive months. My husband and myself thought this company offered great potential for income due to the BONUS structure. The company has since reached these sales levels several times during the past 3 years. My husband was paid for only one bonus in each sales level. The boss told him it was a "one-time" bonus offer. There was no mention in the original job offer / letter that states it is a "one-time" bonus. Does anyone out there feel we have a legal claim to this bonus money? My husband's boss has said that he may have to enforce a "lay-off" very soon due to low company sales totals during the last few months. My husband is looking for another job - but we are still wondering if we could get this bonus money in any way. HELP!

You state the contract does not state that it is a one time bonus. Does the contract state that the bonus will be paid for each 3 month period the sales quotas are met? If not, is sounds like the company upheld the contract and your husband has no claim.
