My brother was pressured and bullied by his landlord into writing a check for rent that his roommate forgot to pay. Since he had no money in his account, my brother wrote a check on his roommate's account (not smart - a whole other issue entirely). His landlord stood over him (in the apartment) and stared as he wrote the check, and threated eviction if the check wasn't in the office in half an hour. Can a landlord do that? I mean, can they pressure you and threaten you? Don't they have to give you notice *before* they evict you?

Of couse he has to give you written notice to move, then if you dont he has to file papers in COURT to have you legally evicted...

Remember this is still America, you have a right to defend yourself in a court of law.

He should have called the police on the asssshole landlord!
