Last year, while working on a side job, I stepped through a roof and tore up my leg and knee. 84 stitches to put my leg back together and 2 months later I had surgery on my knee. My employer at the time had no problem with my knee after surgery and all was well. I moved to another town and another job where I re-injured the knee and did not tell my supervisor until after the week-end and I was in the hospital on Monday morning. My personal insurance was less than 1 week from being in effect and the company will not cover the injury because I did not report it in 24 hrs. I had to quit because it hurt so bad. Now, I am trying to go back and they will not re-hire me until I have a dr's release for my knee. I cannot afford treatment and the doc will not give the release. Are they within their rights to expect a release for an injury they know happened on their property? Should I talk to a lawyer to see if I can make them hire me back. I am now making minimum wage from 11.25 an hr job. I can't live on these wages!!!!! much less pay 239.00 a week child support.
