What is the name of your state?Ohio

Okay, I will shorten my post with no facts involved!

I was robbed at a store in which I believe was set up by the company. I was then told I had to transfer to a store outside the agreed upon stores. They did this, and very obviously because, they knew traveling an hour and a half was impossible, so if they could get me to reject it, they could say I abandoned my job.

They were very concerned that I was going to say something about the situation, that to was obvious, because I too was told to keep my mouth shut. I think they felt they had no choice but to get rid of me, because I knew to much, and if the true info got out, they could be shut down.

Now if you care to read the details, you can find them in the post "This will burst your bubble"

Thanks,

I was robbed at a store in which I believe was set up by the company. It makes no sense for an employer to go to that kind of trouble and deception to be rid of you. Unless you had a bonafide employment contract with your employer, you were an employee "at will" which means the employer could discharge you at any time for any reason. If they wanted you gone, all they had to say was "Thanks but your services are no longer needed." Same goes if they wanted you at a different store. "Effective Monday, you are assigned elsewhere." Even if by some totally bizarre chance they did stage the robbery, that's still not illegal unless the real reason they wanted you gone was because of your membership in a protected class - i.e. your age (if over 40), race, religion, national origin, gender, etc.

To stage a robbery is not illegal? That would fall under insurance fraud which is against the law making it illegal
Your story is a strange one, I'm not sure you can legally do anything about it
A few things make me wonder
1) why did you pay the money back? You had no legal obligation to do so
2)Why are you not permitted to talk to ex employees? you are no longer employed, so you do not have to abide by anything they say
3) Why do you believe that you were told not to talk about the robbery?
4) how many other employees know about the robbery? and are they also not allowed to speak about it?
If you really believe it was a setup why would you have the same police dept do an investigation? Don't you think you would be better served by going to an outside agency, such as the sheriffs dept or the state police?
Maybe you do know more than they would like you to know, maybe you should talk to them, ask for your money back that you had no obligation to pay, and try to find out if the insurance company paid for that loss, because if they recovered the money and still collected on insurance that is insurance fraud. You stated the news already did a story on them, maybe that reporter would be interested in your story. you may not be able to get any money out of it for lost wages or grief but sometimes revenge makes you feel better about it all
