I recieved a letter today from a collection agency on a debt (department store) from at least 12 years ago. It states this company is representing another, (not the original dept. store) and offers 3 repayment plans. Any advice would be appreciated.

Gee, would this collection agency be either SCAMCO or ASSet Acceptance ?? Both are bottom-feeding scum who harrass people to pay on debts that are long past the Statute of Limitations for legal action to collect on a debt. There is NOTHING they can do to you at this point, and they can NOT put a debt this old back on your credit reports - not legally anyway.

SOL in KY on a credit card is 5 years. Send them a cease and desist letter telling them never to contact you about the debt again as it is time-barred.
