I work for a service company that provides emergency 24/7 calls.
If you are on a manditory on call so you have to respond to a call at any time, is there any required compensation they should pay you? If no calls come in and I am required to be available at all times and can not go out of town, then no benefit to me whats so ever. I am hourly and not salary.
thanks

Whether or not you need to be compensated for being on call depends on wheether or not your personal activities are severely limited by the call. Just being on call is not sufficient for them to have to pay you.
