I am being sued for wrongfull death. Here is what happened:

A man was reportedly fleeing the scene of a crime (he was being chased), ran onto a parkway at night that had no lights. Tripped over the divider separating two lanes and was struck by vehicle 1, struck by vehicle 2 (mine) and struck by vehicle 3.

All three drivers and the establishment whose employees were chasing the man are defendants in this case.

No defendants were criminally charged, no drivers found guilty in hearing by DMV.

Gave statement to police that I saw a dark object in the road, a second later realized it was a body wich I tried to avoid but was only partially sucessfull (two rt. side tires rolled over the body).

Anyone have any thoughts on what the judgement may be in a case like this.

I have a lawyer through my insurance co. but would like to be as prepared as possible myself. Can anyone reccomended anything I can do to help defend myself.

Thanks

My response:

Since you already have an attorney, it would be unethical to second-guess any such advice you may receive. Your attorney, with you by his/her side, will guide your ship very nicely. Personal thought: You don't have much, if anything, to worry about.

I would make ABSOLUTLEY sure that if your insurance comany wants to screw you.....
That you be prepared!

They will try and settle this, and guess what.YOU COULD PAY MUCH HIGHER INSURANCE RATES..OR BE CANCELLED ..just because they pay a claim for convienience...

NO KIDDING........Make absolutley sure you get it in writing that you will NOT be charged for any payouts on your auto insurance, and you will be guarenteed renrewals at last years rates

YOU will have to hire an attorney to sue YOUR insurance company so be preparded for that!
