What is the name of your state? MS
My webhost is in North Carolina.

I am attempting to run a charity campaign via merchandise sales through my website, where the profits would be pooled and donated at the end of each month. One of the organizations mentioned that their organization could come under fire due to legal issues dealing with commercial co venturing. From my understanding, all legal statues would fall on me as the collector/donor as long as the recipient company does not co-promote this campaign, of which I have not asked them to do.

I do plan on keeping publicly updated records on the dollar amount collected and post that information regularly on my site.

My other question is should I just silence the campaign, promote my merchandice, then make a private donation of my own accord to avoid an legal problems?

Certainly selling your merchandise, and privately donating the money made to the charity, is one way to avoid legal headaches.
