I am in the process of focusing on paying off MANY debts that I have brought upon myself over the past 2 years. They are many types of debts, and in sitting down and attempting to determine what to pay first, how to even start the process, etc., So, I have a few questions that hopefully someone can help me with so that I can get my finances back in order (may take forever, but at this point, whatever it takes I will do). I have made several poor decisions over the past few years, and take full responsibility for them, but just am looking for a starting point. So, here we go:

1. I have several outstanding "payday loans" with online companies. All are in default. Since it all started out fine (but quickly got out of hand because of the interest that they charge), all of them have gotten, already, a lot of money from me, however, balances on the "original" amount borrowed are still owed. First off...do these type of companies usually agressively pursue debtors and can they/will they take legal actions? Most of the amounts that I owe range from $150-300. Most of them (there are about 7), I have never heard from except for a letter here and there, one I am currently working with, but I may be the only person on earth that actually WORRIES that I am not hearing anything.

2. I have about $3000.00 in bad checks that were submitted through an electronic check system on an online gambling site from last year using my checking account. I have not heard anything. I cooresponded with the company that I assume, "accepts" the payments, Citadel Commerce, and they directed me to another company to discuss my account. Any idea if they offer any type of settlements for less than balance owed and how agressive they are with collection efforts in cases like this?

3. I have read so much on these consumer credit counseling agencies. I am looking for opinions about them from anyone. Would you recommend using them? Any suggestions for ones that appear to be reputable?

Thanks for the help. I really am trying to determine where to start, so in essence, determine which are priority. Sorry for the length here.

1. Payday loans places are extremely agressive in collections. However, they are frequently limited to only civil suits as most prosecutor won't pursue bad check charges resulting from their service.

2. Not familiar with the agency, but most offer settlements.

3. There are a few good ones and many bad ones. You must check them out before signing anything and flle from any one of them that is requiring set-up fees and cash up front.

If you are still gambling, there is no point in attempting to repair your finances. But if you are serious about reorganizing your finances to pay your bills and move forward, PM me. I will help you work out your budget and financial plan.
