What is the name of your state? NE ,but asking about an online purchase that would have been ordered from and delivered to WA

I follow an online news blog, and have a question. The person says that newegg.com has an illegal policy concerning returns. The person in question purchased a laptop, on the product detail page prior to purchase it says 30 days for exchange same item, no refund, on this particular item (policy varies depending on the item). Is that policy legal or not, for that state (WA, I believe)? The person thinks that it is mandatory to allow a return (credit, trade, or otherwise I suppose). Newegg.com is a well known reputable seller of computer/electronic equipment, etc. Thank you.

The blog/details are here.

I live in Washington and I know many brick and mortar retailers the do not allow cash refunds. Washington does not have a law that requires retailers to offer refunds on most purchases. The only restrictions are items sold during clearance or "store closing" sales. In these instances, the merchant must require the usability of the items sold or offer refunds. I read the entire blog at the link you supplied and as usual with most crap on the internet that is not entirely true, lots of folks give the "opinions" but no one provide a specific Washington state RCW or federal law to back up their claim.

Hi, I'm in a similar situation as the poster of the blog (defective purchase less than 30 days ago, would appreciate a refund). Any idea of consumer protection laws that might help me in California? Even without the retail box (it might turn up). Thanks for any advice.

Besides the fact that you are hijacking this thread...they are not required to offer a refund. Additionally, you AGREED to their policy when you bought the item.
