I live in Texas and purchased a vehicle (located in MA) that was advertised on Ebay. The vehicle was horribly misrepresented. I made arrangements to fly to MA to pick the car up. I paid extra for some repairs (that were not effectlively performed), the seller practically forced me to pick the car up at night with no access to a facility to inspect prior to purchase.

He represented the car (1963 Lincoln Continental) as a daily driver with only one rust spot, good tires, and an all around solid car. Since the repairs were not performed properly, he had the car shipped to me And got me a rental car to make my trip home. Once the car arrived, I took it to my shop and inspected it. Here is what I found.....

1) The tires were shot...actually unsafe to drive on.
2) The whole undercarraige of the vehicle was rusted through and ruined...sheetmetal replacement is an absolute necessity.
3) A veritable list of mechanical repairs that were claimed to have been done were either not done at all, or done very poorly.

Here is a link to the Ebay auction where the vehicle description can be viewed:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=009&sspagename=STRK:MEWA:IT&viewitem=&item=190145812687&rd=1

I have plenty of pictures as well as professional mechanical inspections supporting my claim.

Is there anything that I can do, or is the buyer truly unprotected from devious sellers??

Please e-mail me with any advice. Thank you

Right after I picked it up...literally...a front oil seal that was supposedly replaced started pouring oil out and left me stranded. I got some more oil in it and got back on my way. Within 50 miles the transmission burned up...no quick fix for that. I was in MA for two days. He sent a wrecker after it and I had to come home to TX. This left us with no option but for him to ship it to me. When it arrived here was the first chance I hAd to inspect the vehicle.
