What is the name of your state? Ontario

hey guys/girls me again..

Legal aid sent me a thing in the mail saying i can get there assistance but they want $1200. I thought it would have been free since i lost my job out of this, i guess i thought wrong. Anyhow im thinking if its even worth me coughing up money for a lawyer because I myself dont see any lawyer being able to come up with a good defence for me. I was drunk and i hit another car (no injuries except me). The only defense i can think of is a few mistakes the police made but even then i was still drunk and hit another car. I feel terrible about what i did but i would still do anything to get out of this (naturally i think we all would) i mean iv lost my job and im pretty much homebound not making any money.

So what im tryin to say here is do you guys think i should invest in a lawyer of some sort for my case? It's not like i was passed out in my car or a single car accident i actually HIT another moving car.

All i want is to get on with life and learn from this (dont drink anymore) i feel really bad about it but being unemployed and homebound is going to make me go nuts.

any thoughts?

thanks

I can't speak for the how the Canadian courts work, but you might do yourself a favor and check yourself in to an alchohol treatment program before you go to court. If the Canadian courts work anything like in the US, this can help you as far as sentencing goes. You should do this whether you're an alchoholic or not. If you have a drinking problem, the treatment program can help. If you don't have a drinking problem and just went out one night drank too much and made a bad decision, the symbolic value of being in a treatment program under your own accord can also help.

Good Luck.

Thanks sillypuddy

from my research on the Canadian dui issue you can only go to the remedial alcohol course after your sentence.

who knows. Tommorow im going to get a free 30 minute talk with a lawyer that specializes in impaird. There called x-copper apparently they all used to be cops at one point but became lawyer dudes that help out in these types of cases. The minimum fee is $300 and if you loose its free but if they win your case you cough up some good coin but apparently in the long wrong its cheaper then if convicted.

my grammer sucks lol i hope it makes sense.

thanks
